This painting is the product of my frustration with a surreal painting that I was doing for just about the longest time. It was a painting with a house of sorts that had a face and a man curled up in the upper left window. On the roof, were two bugs -- one with the head of a dog...just like the dream that I had over a year ago. I had been working off and on for the past year on the relatively small canvas when finally I just lost all inspiration to go forward. Rather than trudge on and finish just because I had started, I decided to forget the surreal project altogether. I decided to just let my insides guide me as I covered up all the work I had done and when I finished a few days later, I was very happy. I used a lot of paint and a pallet knife. I also used rubber bands and the plastic ants that I had received in the mail in the middle of the process (perfect timing). I realize that the plasitc ants are difficult to make out on the screen so I have posted some close ups of the ants to accompany the painting. They are located on the far left in a dark area, on the upper right in a dark area, in the lower right next to the yellow arc, and at the bottom in a dark area. The yellow magnetic letter "F" is one that I found while I was shopping for a sofa. What a find! Please enjoy the painting.

This is my first animation. It has nothing to do with fear, frown, first, fuck, fowl, farce, fool, foot, fault, form, fecal, fragment, fixate, fellow, feast, farms, flies, flee, fast, flock, fins, flapping, flail, flabbergasted, foal, fugitive, festivity, fallow, forest, fauna, foliage, fun, fellacious, fork, figments, far, for, freak, feign, feline, fantasy, furrow, flak, flakes, fickle, faking, flaunting, forraging, Fred, fist, free, fury, frenzy, fiction, feel, or fired. It simply is.

Similar to Handmade Hole but darker in color and appearance. The two were recently on display at Runway Boutique in Los Angeles. People were surprisingly receptive to the emotion associated with the piece. Please feel free to take a closer look.

This is a left handed self portrait from a couple years ago.

This is me as of a couple days ago...yes, I know, it's the Leno metamorphosis...

This is a painting that I did for an "alter ego" assignment in high school. It must have been 1994... It is rather small but that is what I was comfortable with at the time.

This is an acrylic painting that I did around 1997 with paint and a top secret technique to give it texture ;-) Hints of color rest in the overwhelming grey.

This is the last acrylic painting that I did in '99 before I started oil painting. I never actually finished it...

This is one of the first acrylic paintings I've ever done. It dates back to about 1994.

This is a drawing that I did on my apartment's bedroom wall with a pencil. I plan to paint over it with blue paint so it will not exist in reality for very long. It's not a masterpiece but it came from the dark recesses of my mind and I thought I'd share.

This is a painting that I did for my mom in 2003. It is actually one of a very few paintings that I have done explicitly for someone else. She loves the montains and one day handed me a newspaper with a picture of the Angeles Crest Mountains at sunrise. It was a very simple four tone silhouette picture and she handed it to me saying jokingly, "why don't you paint this for me?" She knows that I am not a landscape artist and in fact she is not a big fan of my modern style. So I secretly painted it for her over the course of three months and gave it to her for Christmas. I took the simple silhouette and added my own flavor, giving it the soul that my mom so loves about her mountains - the light changing qualities, the mood changing qualities, the peace and serenity of the Mountains.

I received an interesting and very negative comment about the piece shown below and thought I'd clarify. It has been mistaken twice for an attempt at surrealism which is odd because it is not even a painting. It is a mixed media abstract conceptual piece using rubber bands and various other media. I do have a few pieces in my collection that are more surreal. Over the course of my twelve plus years as a painter, I've dabbled in various styles and media - of course always with the purpose of challenging myself to grow and enrich my expression. In any case, I have always done whatever comes to me and have been quite successful with that approach. In this case, Hand Made Hole is an expression of the pain and confusion surounding some very personal events in my life including the sudden destruction of my marriage and the chaos and agony that followed. It is in no way under the sun even remotely surreal. I appreciate all comments on my work but appreciate it even more if you take the time to view several pieces before jumping to any conclusions about me as an artist. My work is uniquely varied in style and it therefore takes a close look at more than just one painting to understand what I do. Thank you for visiting!

This piece is made of rubber bands and pieces of torns up drawings that brought back bad memories...oh yes -- and a hand made hole. It has to do with self-inflicted pain, relationships, and interconnectivity.
